News Flash:

Middlebury Farmers’ Market beats the snow by a few hours!

The final outside Saturday of our market’s 36th season ended just before Middlebury’s first measurable snowfall and that was typical of the kind of year it was for our market: the weather ruled.

Heavy rains in April and May flooded fields and delayed plantings, which meant later harvests. One Saturday in July, the winds at Marble Works were clocked at close to 50 MPH and our vendors had to hang onto their tents to keep them from blowing away. Then, Tropical Storm Irene devastated Vermont in late August and hurt our farmers’ harvests.

But MFM vendors are a hearty lot. We pushed through the elements for another successful summer with local food and crafts and thousands of satisfied customers.

The festive atmosphere will continue with our winter market at American Flatbread Restaurant from November through April inside the former Vermont marble factory with it cozy fireplace, friendly vendors, and plenty of good things to eat.
